When I first started my online presence under the "LD" moniker, I never thought that I would end up writing and releasing my own music. I announced "Cranium Shaker," a follow-up album to the self titled LD "album" that I had released on YouTube in August 2019, originally planned to be another collection of songs that I didn't really make and that people didn't really listen to.
However, after a tough breakup and the pandemic, I started to write actual songs for the first time in my life. I decided to use the idea of Cranium Shaker as something bigger, a metaphor for life's ups and downs and the uncertainty of its biggest decisions. After about a three-week songwriting period, I ended up with a batch of ten songs that I was actually proud of, something that hadn't occurred with any song I had written before. However, with limited recording equipment or knowledge, I put the album on hold. I debated releasing it in a solely acoustic state, or even abandoning the project entirely, but I realized that the songs deserved to be released in their intended state. So, after more than a year of building up my arsenal of recording equipment and learning how to produce songs by myself on my computer, I released "Cranium Shaker."
Although the album may be a bit primitive in its sound due to my previous inexperience, I'm still really proud of how it turned out and all the positive reactions that it's gotten from so many people. So, thank you to anyone that has listened to "Cranium Shaker" and has been a part of the Overlöded experience!
